Getting MSN to work for Heaven's sake!

Hi al
I installed the new version of Msn, "Windows Live Messenger", on my laptop.
I'm running JFW 5.0 on my laptop, and it is working fine with this new MSN thing.
However, I am using the same JFW on my pc, but it refuses to speak much within Msn, as well as Live Messnger.
e.g., in the history field, it hardly speaks a thing.
Any ideas as to how I can fix this problem, apart from buying Jaws 7, of course?

Apologies for the poor spelling. Mesmer was in fact supposed to be ... Messenger.
